Cranwood J Bryer 9780983858317 Books Reviews

I guess i am too old for this read. i downloaded it because it was free and under the "horror fiction" title. It was mildly interesting but poorly written. I found it hard to read because it seemed to be written by a middle schooler.

I don't usually like to write negative or offensive things about a book or its author but i have to be honest in saying that i didn't like how this book was written. Again, maybe i am just too old to "get it"......

Ok for free i guess.
Overall this is not a bad book, especially if you can download it for free. The story seems to get a little weak, and a little rushed as you get to the last third of the book. It is a little choppy, but still fairly enjoyable to read.
I enjoyed this book immensely; it was a unique journey dealing with a teenager with the gift of foresight. Werewolves were a very minor part of the story which was a refreshing change.
This book has two plots that do not work together at all. There's the first one with Abby meeting David and falling in 'love' with him and his normalcy, and then there's the second one that somehow involves Russian werewolves. I'm still not exactly sure how the second one came into existence with the first being so... typical, but it did and oh damn did it miss what it could have been. More on that later. I find David's reactions to Abby to be unrealistic at best. If someone I barely knew just 'happened' to guess where I'd be on a particular day, I'd not be so happy. Even if said guess saved my life, you had to have been watching pretty closely to know my exact plans for the day. Later at the dance when he flat out lies to his friends about why Abby is home schooled (protip if you don't know, you just say its none of the third party's business) it read to me as David putting Abby on an impossibly high pedestal to impress his friends. When he just so happens to show up at the end of the book after the big tomb exploration, its far from romantic. If he had actually been one of the werewolves and that's where his family was going, YES. That alone would have made up for all of his impossibly stupid moves the rest of the book. But to fully play with that, Abby's throat had to have been ripped out at some point. But no... he's just a boy with attachment issues. Very creepy. And not in a good way. On to the more interesting second plot. This is not Supernatural Horror. It'd even be stretching it to call it Supernatural Something. The Werewolves are more of a background threat, which is okay if they're actually doing something. But only four or five people out of an entire village are even scared of them. Or even notice them, for that matter.

And to answer your question, Abby, on what meds you would be prescribed ALL OF THEM. David too.
I teach 7th grade English and I am always looking for books that my students will enjoy reading. This was a perfect choice! When I showed the cover to the class, they were very intrigued as to what the book was about. After reading the forward to them, they instantly put their hands in the air and begged to be the first one chosen to read it! I now have a waiting list of eager readers! I read it myself and found it to be at the perfect reading level for middle school students. The students can relate to the character because she is around their age and she speaks at their level. It also contains the elements that students love when reading such as suspense, action, and friendship. I really hope that the author creates another book like this because this one is a big hit!
I knew this was a book for the teen audience, but wanted to give it a try. J Bryer has a good imagination and some intriguing ideas that I think teens would like, but the story gets a little convoluted and has some characters in it that only confuse the story line. I think this just needed a little more editing to make the story line cleaner and tighter. Teen readers are pretty discerning and if the story does not keep them interested because it is muddled, they will quit reading it.
THIS BOOK IS AMAZING!!!! It was like one thing after another. The events were so one edge so I loved this book. It had the perfect mixture of romance, drama and action.
